Personal History
I am proud to be a cancer survivor. My experience taught me firsthand what it means to face an unexpected health challenge and to fight for wellness of the mind, body, and spirit throughout a long recovery.
Healing was not a solitary journey. It required a team of dedicated healthcare providers, supportive loved ones, and a willingness to explore every avenue that could contribute to recovery. Because of this experience, I have developed a deep respect for integrative care and the power of bringing together different perspectives and therapies to support the whole person.
Since I was a child I have always been fascinated by how the body works. I would spend countless hours reading old texts from both my grandpa and my dad’s book shelf about medicine, science, and traditional remedies. At the age of 9, I became inspired by my new Family Doctor who took that extra bit of time to teach me about my body, nutrition, and preventative medicine. I knew that I wanted to do the same for others.
As I was studying biomedical sciences at the University of Waterloo, I began to experience my own battle with hormones and digestive issues. I searched for solutions and eventually I was led to my first Naturopathic Doctor. I was inspired! Through her care I discovered the impact that good, wholesome food has on my energy and quality of life, the interconnectedness of each organ system, and the importance of treating the whole person. This holistic approach blended with my scientific background is what shapes me as a clinician today.
